K2 Fight Night In Odessa Is Huge Success.

By Dmytro Mossienko: The Klitschko brothers K2 promotional vehicle staged yet another exciting championship fight at the now legendary Black sea port of Odessa on Saturday.

In the main event minutes ago Alexander ‘The Great’ Ustinov, 20-0-0 (16), (33 yrs, 297.62lb), fighting out of Belarus via Russia, won a unanimous 12 round decision over Paolo “The Titan Jaw” Vidoz from Italy, 26-8-0 (15), (39 yrs, 266.76lb).

The scores were 117-112, 119-109, 120-108. The European Boxing Association heavyweight championship belt was at stake in this fight supported by crowds of fans who came by cars and buses from neighboring Belarus,

Ustinov started the action with vigorous attacks, establishing his authority and forcing Vidoz to immediately test how much of a titan he actually was by smashing a left hand into the Italian’s jaw. To Vidoz’s merit, he swallowed the badest punches without any sign of frustration.

In in opening stanza largely dominated by the fighter from Minsk, the final seconds were stolen by Vitoz, who landed several juicy left jabs to Ustinov’s head.

Round two opened with mutual attacks and Vidoz demonstrated the quality of the Italian professional boxing school, first of all in footwork and then defense. Ustinov kept leading with left jabs

In round three Vidoz demonstrated his excellent skill by working inside. He punished Ustinov every time, when the Belorussian fighter would be left admiring his attacks. Vidoz also demonstrated good timing to compensate Ustinov’s massive advantage in reach.

In round five Vidoz forced Ustinov to backpedal. However, the general domination was in the hands of Ustinov, who was faster and slicker, despite the weight difference

In round six Ustinov rocked Vidoz with a mean right jab, testing the Italian’s chin and stamina once again. Vidoz demonstrated courage of a true gladiator. Ustinov kept pacing up the fight, using his age and movement to his advantage. However, again and again the stubborn Italian kept testing Ustinov’s defense to the sheer delight of all the fans!

Vidoz started round eight with dangerous attacks, which surprised Ustinov if not to say somewhat had him lost for an answer on how to deal with it. This resulted in a mean left hook landing on Ustinov’s jaw. The Belorussian escaped further problems by grabbing the smaller man. However, when he recovered and attempted to attack Ustinov lost his concentration and again and sat back to admire the effect of his punches, Vidoz punished him with a slick counter-attack inside, winning probably his first round in the fight.

Both men looked extremely tired in round nine. This appeared to be a brief slow down, as both fighters started the “championsip” rounds with massive attacks. In round 10 busy exchanges in mid round resulted in a low blow from Vidoz. Ustinov came back after two minutes of rest to get yet another mean body shot from Vidoz, even though few in attendance would agree it was a low blow, except for the referee.

Action in round 11 was interrupted by a sloppily taped glove on Ustinov’s right hand, which was booed by all the fans in attendance. He came back with his long distance artillery just to be punished again by Vidoz dangerous left hook!!

In round 12 Ustinov came out with many punishing attacks, but the Italian was slick in getting in on the inside and rocked Ustinov with several heavy looking left hooks. Ustinov was looking for rescue in clinch, while Italian demonstrated his excellent skills.

Ustninov, a former kickboxer, was obviously given a lesson in professional boxing skills. Vidoz looked short of one more minute to finish Ustinov, but Belorussian was saved by the final bell.

Se non sapessi il risultato, da questo resoconto penserei che ha vinto Paolo. Che schifo la politica nella box. Oh, e la foto con Vitali?
